The map of Game of Thrones is a fascinating tool for fans of the show. It allows us to see the vastness of the world that George R.R. Martin has created, and it helps us to understand the layout of Westeros and Essos. The map also gives us a glimpse into the future, as it shows us where things are headed in the next season.
Welcome to my blog post about the Game of Thrones map! For those of you who are unfamiliar with Game of Thrones, it is a television show that has gained a massive following over the past few years. The show is based on the book series A Song of Ice and Fire, written by George R.R. Martin.
One thing that makes Game of Thrones so interesting is its vast and detailed world. The continent of Westeros, where most of the story takes place, is huge and filled with different cultures and regions. This can make it difficult to keep track of all the characters and events taking place in the show.
That’s why I’ve decided to create a map of Westeros! This map will include all important locations from the show, as well as brief descriptions of each area. I hope you find this map helpful in understanding the world of Game of Thrones!

Is There a Map of Game of Thrones?
Yes, there is a map of Game of Thrones. It was released by HBO in 2011 and shows the known world of Westeros and Essos. The map is updated as new episodes are released.
What Area of the World is Game of Thrones?
George R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire, the book series that Game of Thrones is based off of, is set in a world that is very similar to our own Middle Ages. The books are purposely vague about what area of the world they are set in, but there are many clues that suggest it is somewhere in or near Europe. Some fans have suggested that Westeros, the main continent in the story, is actually Ireland turned upside down.
This theory is based on the fact that many of the place names in Westeros sound Irish (e.g. Riverlands, Stormlands), and some of the characters have Irish sounding names (e.g. Tyrion Lannister). Additionally, Casterly Rock – home of House Lannister – bears a striking resemblance to Dunluce Castle in Northern Ireland. However, there are also many similarities between Westeros and England – which has led some fans to believe that it is actually located off the coast of England, somewhere near Iceland.
For example, King’s Landing (the capital city) has a lot in common with London; while Oldtown (the oldest city) resembles Oxford University. There are also several real-life English landmarks that appear in the show, such as Hadrian’s Wall and Doune Castle. Ultimately, we may never know for sure where exactly Game of Thrones is meant to be set – but it’s safe to say that it’s somewhere in or around Europe!
How Big is the Map of Game of Thrones?
The map of Game of Thrones is the size of the United States. It is approximately 3,000 miles long and 2,000 miles wide. The map is divided into seven kingdoms, each ruled by a different family.
The capital city of Westeros is King’s Landing, located in the south-central part of the continent. To the east of Westeros lies Essos, a large continent with many different cultures and regions.
What is the Geography of Game of Thrones?
The land of Westeros is a large continent that is divided into several regions. The Seven Kingdoms are the largest and most powerful kingdoms in Westeros. They are: the North, the Iron Islands, the Vale of Arryn, the Riverlands, the Crownlands, the Stormlands, and Dorne.
There are also three major cities in Westeros: King’s Landing, Oldtown, and Lannisport. The North is a large and cold region that is ruled by House Stark. It is home to Winterfell, the seat of House Stark.
The Iron Islands are a harsh and unforgiving place ruled by House Greyjoy. They are home to Pyke, the seat of House Greyjoy. The Vale of Arryn is a lush and green region ruled by House Arryn.
It is home to Eyrie, the seat of House Arryn. The Riverlands are a fertile region that has been ravaged by war for many years. They are currently controlled by House Frey but there are many factions vying for control of this strategic region.
The Crownlands are small but wealthy region that surrounds King’s Landing, the capital city of Westeros. They are controlled by House Baratheon but there has been much unrest since King Robert’s death due to factional fighting within house Baratheon itself as well as with other houses contesting for power in King’s Landing (most notably houses Tyrell and Lannister). The Stormlands are a rugged and wild region ruled by House Baratheon of Storm’s End (one of two surviving branches of house Baratheon).
It was recently conquered by Stannis Baratheon but his rule is contested by several other claimants including his own brother Renly who has declared himself king as well. Finally there is Dorne which rounds out mainland Westeros geographically speaking (it lies at it southernmost tip).
