What is the Adeptus Mechanicus
The Adeptus Mechanicus is the official name of the Imperium’s priesthood who maintain and operate all of the Imperium’s machinery, including its weapons and vehicles. They are sometimes referred to derogatorily as “machine-worshippers” by their detractors. The priesthood is made up of both male and female members, although the majority are male.
The Adeptus Mechanicus’ ultimate goal is to achieve technological perfection for the Imperium.
The organization dates back to the days before the Emperor united humanity under his rule. At that time, there were numerous tech-priests who served different masters in different parts of the world.
After the Emperor conquered most of Earth, he brought these tech-priests together and gave them a new purpose: to maintain and improve upon humanity’s technology in order to help ensure humanity’s survival against its many enemies.
Since then, the Adeptus Mechanicus has been vital to the Imperium’s war efforts. They provide much of the Imperium’s military hardware, from small arms to starships, and keep it running despite often primitive or hostile conditions.
In addition, they are responsible for training new generations of Imperial Guardsmen and Techmarines in the use and maintenance of this equipment.
The Adeptus Mechanicus is a highly secretive organization, hoarding knowledge zealously while sharing only what they must with outsiders. This has led to tension with other Imperial organizations such as the Inquisition, which views them with suspicion due to their reliance on machines (which can be corrupted by Chaos) and their secrecy (which can hide heresy).
However, both sides recognize that they need each other: without the Adeptus Mechanicus’ technology, humanity would quickly fall prey to its enemies; without Inquisitors rooting out corruption within their ranks, corruption could quickly spread through Humanity’s technology base like a cancerous tumor.
What is Their Role in the Imperium
The Imperium of Man is the galactic empire of humanity, which has ruled over most of the Milky Way galaxy for the last 10,000 years. It is a massive empire, spanning over a million worlds and containing trillions of human beings. The Imperium is ruled by the Emperor of Mankind, who sits on the Imperial throne on Terra.
The Emperor is served by his loyal servants, the Space Marines and the Imperial Guard.
The Space Marines are the elite warriors of the Imperium. They are genetically-enhanced super soldiers, clad in power armour and armed with powerful weapons.
They fight against the enemies of humanity – aliens, heretics and traitors – with brutal efficiency.
The Imperial Guard are the vast armies of the Imperium. They are made up of brave men and women from all walks of life, who fight to defend humanity from its enemies.
They are armed with lasguns and wear flak armour to protect them from enemy fire.
Both the Space Marines and Imperial Guard play vital roles in defending humanity from its enemies. Without them, mankind would be overrun by aliens or destroyed by heretics.
How Do They Differ from Other Imperial Factions
The Empire of Tamriel is divided into several distinct factions, each with their own agenda and area of influence. The three most notable Imperial factions are the Aldmeri Dominion, the Daggerfall Covenant, and the Ebonheart Pact.
The Aldmeri Dominion is a political union of elves led by Queen Ayrenn.
It is headquartered in Summerset Isle and also includes the provinces of Valenwood and Elsweyr. The Dominion’s stated goal is to restore Elven supremacy in Tamriel and to protect all elves from racial discrimination. They are seen as enemies by most other Imperial factions due to their xenophobic views and expansionist tendencies.
The Daggerfall Covenant is a loose alliance of Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs formed to counter the growing threat of the Aldmeri Dominion. It is headquartered in High Rock and also includes the provinces of Hammerfell and Orsinium. The Covenant’s main focus is on internal stability and protecting its borders from external threats.
They are generally viewed as allies by other Imperial factions, although there has been some tension between them and the Ebonheart Pact in recent years.
The Ebonheart Pact is a military alliance between Argonians, Dunmer, and Nords formed to resist both the Aldmeri Dominion and the encroaching legions of Morrowind. It is headquartered in Windhelmand also includes parts of Eastmarchand Skyrim .
The Pact’s ultimate goal is survival at any cost; they are willing to work with anyone who shares this goal, regardless of race or creed.
What Units are Available in the Codex
One of the great things about the Codex is that it gives you a ton of options for units. You can pretty much find whatever you need, whether it’s long-range firepower, frontline troops, or something in between. Here’s a quick rundown of some of the units you’ll find in the Codex:
-HQ choices include Commanders, Lieutenants, and Psykers. Each option has its own unique abilities and wargear, so choose wisely depending on your army’s needs.
-Troops choices include everything from infantry and cavalry to monstrous creatures and robots.
There’s a lot of diversity here, so again, think about what your army needs before making your selection.
-Elites choices run the gamut from heavily armored troops to powerful psykers and fast-moving assault units. As with Troops choices, there’s a lot of variety here, so take your time and pick the units that best complement your army.
-Fast Attack choices range from nimble jetbikes to massive tanks and flying creatures. These units are designed to get into position quickly and cause havoc on the battlefield. Choose carefully depending on what sort of threat you’re facing.
-Heavy Support choices are all about delivering big guns to the fight. From massive tanks to long-range artillery, these units pack a serious punch. Again, think about what sort of threats you’re likely to face when making your selection.
